Matching Chickens
Mikayle and Cole got matching jammies for Christmas. (We had our celebration on Saturday) Mikayle was elated to have "Fire truck" jammies and even more delighted that his "chicken boy" baby had matching ones!!
i might also add...Mikayle has a fascination with standing over Cole lately.

Well, they keep me laughing
Oh my little boys!! They help me remember so many times in a day just why I wanted my kids close in age. They adore each other. One a little more than the other. I think CN6 sometimes just tolerates his big brother, but most of the time there are giggles and smiles abounding. AND the other night was no exception.
LOVE!!
Chicken Helper
Yesterday CN5 and I had a task to complete, Bake tiny loaves of bread for everyone in our church. Sounds easy enough right? Big. Fat. WRONG!! Maybe if the chicken helper was a few years older. Or maybe if the chicken helper had better "listening ears". or maybe, just maybe if the chicken helper was not, well, Kayle. But that is what I had, one little chicken helper by the name of Kayle. So we set about our task and this is what followed....
Getting the milk out of the fridge....
"I HELP MOMMA"
Getting the eggs out of the fridge...
"I HELP MOMMA!!"
annnnnnnnnd SPLAT!! An egg falls and breaks on my lovely kitchen carpet, we really do need to replace the flooring in there.
Putting the bread in the oven...
"I HELP MOMMA!!! OHHHHHHH HOT!!! NO HELP!! IT BUUUUUUURRRRRRNS ME!!"
Well, at least he remembers one thing I taught him.
Turning my back to get something, I turn back around to see two tiny hands reaching up and playing in the flour we had just measured for the next batch.
And lastly, the first freshly baked loaves set on the counter to cool. Little hands reaching to touch I say "No, they are hot and they are not for your fingers." Then the phone rings. Its my husband. He REALLY has bad timing sometimes. I go to answer it and return to the kitchen to see one little chicken leaning over the counter and take a bite out of the bread. Welp, he didnt "touch" them...
While a little chicken helper was in time out I did take a picture of the loaves in question with TWO little bite marks out of them. Yup, the middle loaf was "safe".

Little Dancing Chicken
CN5 LOVES to dance. We joke that sometimes he even likes to dance to the music in his head. It does not matter if there is music that we can hear, he hears it all day long. Side note...Yes I clothe my chickens, some of them just prefer the "natural" look.

Tubby Time
Just two boys in a tub. Who would have thought it would be so hard? "CN5, dont poor water on CN6" "CN5 stop pushing CN6 into the water" "CN5 PLEASE dont give him the shampoo bottle" I finally gave up and put CN6 in his bumboo. Here are the few pictures I could capture once CN6 was safe from the danger that is his big brother.

That's how WE roll...
In the midst of nursing sick chickens we did manage to get our Christmas tree up. If you knew how much of a "BIG deal" this was you would be congratulating me RIGHT now. It was quite the event. Sad to say the "tree" was up last week, yup put it up last Saturday and we did not decorate it till yesterday. That's how we roll. Looking at an empty tree for seven days. Listening to hacking, sneezing chickens ask "when do we get to decorate the tree?" for one. whole. week. yup. THAT my friends is how we roll. We had a brief moment on Saturday when it looked like everyone was feeling better so we jumped at the chance to throw some ordainment's on some fake branches and call it Christmas. (By the way, white lights won out this year.)
Here is Kayle putting the Star ontop of the tree, his first year of this new job, Rebekah has been demoted.
Cole enjoyed the event from his Bumboo. YES there are gifts under the tree already. YES they were there before the tree was decorated. YES I have 6 chickens and the only way to keep their gifts a secret is to keep them RIGHT in front of them.
We did manage to snap a few pictures of ALL the chickens in front of the tree. That was quite an event to say the least. Seriously, need congratulating RIGHT now.
The Great Joseph Napper Of 2010 struck again. This time we caught him on camera, and it appears he has set his sights on Baby Jesus...
And THAT my friends is "The Great Christmas Tree Decorating Event" of 2011.
Merry Christmas!!
Now I have to go hand out some motrin...

Sick Chickens
Its never good when a chicken in our home gets sick. Its like leaving a fire unattended in the forest, there's a chance nothing could happen, but more than likely within a few days it will spread like crazy. Whelp, that's what happens when we have a sick chicken. It happens the same way EVERY time. I start out all optimistic, cleaning, washing, using hand sanitizer, administering extra vitamins, and getting LOADS of Oj down several little chickens throats. (They do not like Oj.) And just when things start to settle down for one little chicken, I slack off for a moment thinking that we have reached the end and then BAM!! (yea just like that chef...BAM!) It hits the other kids.
Well that has been what we have been dealing with these past few weeks, and yesterday the unthinkable happened, the princess got sick. Yup, so I am home with the princess and the energizer bunny, who, one would think would slow down when sick but that is only slightly true. He has only had one day with feavers of 104 that wiped him out. yup, that's right, 104, that's what it take to slow this chicken down. He has a temp of 102.8 today....you would NEVER guess it by his activity. I left the room thinking he was all tucked in on the sofa only to return to find him climbing on the computer table. Yup, energizer bunny, er, chicken.
So needless to say, this brings multitasking to a whole new level. This is how I spent my evening last night as Coby was in meetings.

And people wonder why I dont like winter....
