A Day With Cole

Cole has LOTS of exciting things happen to him in a single day and tonight I thought I would share some of the things that make up his little world...

Things We Have Found On Cole:
Cars
Books
"Bean" (aka snuggle blanket)
Tools
Snacks
Toys of all kinds

Things We Have Found IN Cole:
Goldfish Crackers
Gummy Snacks
Binkies
Sippy Cups

Things We Have Found Around Cole:
Phones
Forks
At least twenty diapers
Socks.  Oh the socks we find...

And all of this thanks to an incredible two year old big brother.  Life will never be dull for this tiny chicken.

Open Coop

We had our open house this last week.  It went great!!  We had around 30 people brave the snow filled roads to join us for the evening.  It was so nice to see people from our kids schools, our neighbors, friends, and church family all enjoying being in our home.  We had lovely desserts and hot coffee.  YUM!!  Here is the only picture I snapped of the evening, the lovely dessert spread.  mmmmmmmm

We were told over and over how nice it was and how nobody has done something like this before.  We very much enjoyed our time and are looking forward to many more times like this one.

Brothers

Oh the things I find Mikayle and Cole "doing", well, really the things I find Mikayle "doing" TO Cole.  Just this morning I walked into the living room to find not one, but TWO goldfish sticking out of Cole's mouth.  I think the whole "wait till Cole is 6 months adjusted before giving him solids" may not be working...Oh well, at least Kayle is sharing right?  Here are a few cute pictures of the boys in question...

As you can see, Cole DOES love his big brother, and I find myself horrified when I let my mind wonder to a couple years from now and the terror that will ensue with these two chickens...

A day without chickens....

So yesterday a super sweet couple in our church took the little boys for five whole hours!!  FIVE!!  After they left I just sat down and enjoyed the silence for about 3 minutes and then if felt a little weird.  I did however find some fantastic things to fill my time, like...

an uninterrupted hour with my breakfast, coffee and God.  I cannot tell you when the last time that happened was.

and curtain making...these curtains are made out of two table runners I found YEARS ago on an amazing clearance at Target (LOVE) and had made into a shower curtain that is no longer needed so I re-purposed them as kitchen curtains.

I even had time to clean that nasty spot under the sink that you don't ever want anyone to look at.  Yup, its clean now.  In fact I got SO much done and did not really feel tired I started to wonder why that was.  Then the boys came home, or rather CN5 came home, and it took 53 seconds for me to remember why.  You see, I had forgotten what it was like to be able to leave a room and not worry about what a certain chicken might be getting into, or to worry about what he might destroy, what it was like to be able to let my guard down,  like when I walked into the kitchen to see the little chicken in question looking over his shoulder, watching out for me all the while, drawing in red pen on my freshly painted wall.  yea, like that.  Days off are nice.

The House

I have had people asking for house pictures.  Apparently they dont understand I have SIX chickens.  Well, today I thought I would oblige them.  But only because a super sweet couple came and got my little boys for a few hours so I am chicken-less.  Here they are.  Some before and some after, its been a LONG process...

The front of our house that has ZERO curb appeal, but we have BIG plans for it.  Sadly, the inside is more pressing and  this project will have to wait.

Our entry way with my little model.

Kitchen After

Kitchen After.  All we are waiting on in here is hardware for the cupboards, curtains and new floor.  Carpet in  the kitchen with 6 chickens is NOT a good idea.

The Stairs and our Lovely blue carpet.  Oh, and Proof that I am slacking in the  "cleaning " department.

The boys room.  My next painting project, I need to get rid of the hearts...Justins request, "Mom, I don't care  what color you use, just please can we get rid of the hearts?"

The Girls room, the painting project after the boys.

The Master bedroom, seriously TWICE the size of our old one!!  We need to have a "wall paper removal party" for this room.

Our walk-in closet, seriously as big as Brittany and Justin's room they shared in our first house!!  Oh, and blogger is being super silly and wont let me turn this one.  :-P

Cole's area in our bedroom.

Master Bathroom

The basement.  Hopefully, this coming summers project.  We will be putting two bedrooms in this area and turning the storage room into a play room and the small storage area into an ORGANIZED storage area.  :)

The back of the house.  Needs some TLC like the front, but it will have to wait.   (can you spot my little model?)

And so my lovely followers, that is our house.  We feel so incredibly blessed to have it and anytime you want a vacation to a cold windy place, stop in and stay with us.  The sun is ALWAYS shinning!!  :)

Snowy Chicken

We got our first snow last night!!  There was much excitement in the Bennett house this morning as we were getting ready for school.  We sent chickens 1-4 off to school in their snow stuff and as soon as the door closed CN5 thought he needed his snow attire on as well.  Once we got him all dressed, an ordeal that took a good 20 minutes, we headed outside.  I feel I must add, he was slightly more excited than his face is showing in the picture.

There was snow eating, snow throwing, snow eating, snow pouncing, snow eating,  snow cleaning (my favorite), snow eating, snow pounding, snow eating, and so much more.  But I will let you see for yourself....

Oh how I LOVE little feet in snow boots and the tracks they make.  It is so fun to watch the "trail" left behind those little feet.  Here is a super cute little trail that the little chicken in question left behind. Makes you wonder what they are thinking.  More than likely, just enjoying life to its fullest...

And then it was time to come inside, and CN5 did not want to take his snow stuff off, and so here he is even as I write this playing with his trucks in his snow boots and snow pants.  We did finally get the hat, jacket and mittens off, but only after an extended time out session.  (not about the jacket but about some other deed) Is there anything cuter than a "marshmallow boy" in time out?

And lastly, This is what CN6 thought about the snow...

Happy and content on his little blue blanket.  He slept through the yummy snow eating.

A Chicken Play

The following play is dedicated to one Aunt Heidi.

The following is the script as I know it is hard to hear, and you may blame that for the reason you don't agree with the message.

Brittany: "Oh Justin, isn't Mom the best Mom ever?"

Justin: "Oh Brittany, I don't think I KNOW!"

Michael: "AND she is the funnEST mom ever!!"

Rebekah: "The End"

Applause, Applause.

Just a recap

Today during Coby's sermon Cole was watching him very intently and every time I would re-position him he would fuss.  Then later today he gave me a recap of his Daddy's sermon.  Its seems he was listening very well...

I might also add that Brittany calls him "colebert" now.

A dAy iN thE LifE

Almost everyday here starts with a gorgeous sunrise and today was no exception!!
Loving having the sun everyday!

After Breakfast Rebekah lost her first top front tooth.  It went a little something like this...
Me seeing the tooth hanging on by a thread "Rebekah let me just try to wiggle your tooth free."
Rebekah "NOOOOOOOOOOO"
As she is lamenting the tooth falls out n my hand.
Rebekah "oh, ha, thats cool."
yup, our little drama queen.

Kayle likes to hide from me and this is just one of the random places he chose
on this day.  The kitchen island on top of the bread maker.
Cole contemplating the things his big brother does, including waking him up in middle
of a fantastic nap by screaming about some silly thing.

And no day would be complete without a "time out" for Kayle...or 2-3 dozen time outs.

During nap time I finished painting the "Forever" on our wall.
Ahhh it really feels like home now.

And lastly we went to Justins Veterans Day program.
Seriously one of the best I have been too.
He did great!!  So blessed to live in America!!

And that is our Friday in a nutshell.  Hope you have a great one!!
