Kayle's Korner
We have in our house a plethora of corners. Big corners. Small Corners. Crooked Corners. Straight Corners. Long corners. Short Corners. Blue Corners. Grey Corners. Warm corners. Cold Corners. Bedroom Corners. Kitchen Corners. Basement Corners. Upstairs Corners. Corners of every shape and size. But the corner we are the most delighted with lately is one of chicken number 5's. His very own. His very own "special" corner. No one else possesses such a corner. You see his corner is sort of a magical corner. It has the ability to change shape, size and even location. Yup, its what we like to call a "traveling corner". Its pretty awesome, and Kayle has a way of being able to find himself a corner wherever he may be. You may be asking "How does he do it? How does he find a corner wherever he is at?" Well, its really a sweet little trick, you see all you have to do is say to CN5 "NO!" and he slumps his little shoulders, gives a little sigh and then proceeds to the nearest corner. It really is pretty amazing, a sight to see. If any of you have children that have a hard time finding a "time out corner" of their very own we can/do loan out Kayle, sometimes for weeks on end, as long as you need, whatever it takes, we are willing for you to have your very own "corner finding Kayle".

"Mommy if Cole was a chipmunk and he told me his name was Cole he would be my friend and I would love him."

A play by play of my day so far...
6:30am - I hear a little voice from the boys bedroom. I decide to ignore it.
6:40am - The voice is now accompanied by banging on the wall.
6:41am - I tell the chicken in question to go back to bed.
6:42am - All is quite.
6:44am - I hear "Dadddy. Doggy. BEAN!!!!" from the boys room.
6:45am - Again, I decide to ignore it.
7:00am - my alarm goes off and I think to myself...."there has to be some kind of gag that is safe to use on small children..."
7:10am - Im making breakfast and ask the little chicken in question to get off the counter.
7:11am - Chicken number 5 throws himself kicking and screaming on the floor.
7:12am - The first time out of the day.
8:11am - CN5 is climbing on my dresser.
8:12am - Second time out of the day.
8:20am - CN5 starts getting canned goods out of the pantry.
8:21am - First warning.
8:21 and 30 seconds - Third time out for little CN5
8:25am - CN5 brings me the lotion bottle and has lotion all over himself.
8:31am - fourth time out (slightly delayed b/c of the lotion clean-up)
8:45am - snack time.
8:53am - walk in to discover CN5 has emptied his "nack" all over the floor and is stepping on the poor little goldfish grinding them into the carpet.
8:54am - you guessed it....fifth time out
9:01am - walk into the living room to discover CN5 dripping water from his sippy cup onto CN6.
9:03am - What we call "reflection time" really, just a extended time out so Mommy does not pull her hair out.
9:20am - I sit down to write my lovely fans a blog and all of the sudden peace and quite...
9:25am - I walk around the house trying to find CN5
9:27am - I find CN5 on the counter with his arms in the air counting "...one....two..." I grab him right before he tries to jump. It seems I have a suicidal chicken on my hands.
9:43am - I finish my blog, post it and am wondering to myself..."Why did I give up coffee?"

oh chicken
well, its happened. a day that I thought would wait another year at least. but, no, its arrived on friday. the day that chicken number five fell asleep in time out. let me back up...
Chicken number 4 and 5 are very similar and, well, I have seen them go through the same actions almost at the same time in life until Friday that is. You see Chicken 4 and I had days where she would seem to like her time out spot so much that as soon as she left it she would do something to warrant her going right back in. Well, on one of these days I discovered when I went to get her up that she had fallen asleep due to her lack of a nap, and well, funnally enough, I KNEW that was what she needed all along. Well, Friday was that day for chicken number 5. He finally bit the dust so to speak and fell asleep in the hard floor in time out. He actually had his head on the molding and when he woke up had a very nice red mark on his cheek.

Chicken Happenings
Well we are settled in our new home. Right. Smack. In. Middle. Of. Town. Yup, we took our country chickens and moved them into town. Well as you can imagine there are a few things we have to do differently "in" town, things I did not think I would have to tell my chickens about. The following are just a few of the things we have discovered our chickens doing:
1. Dumpster Diving- an activity that involves a neighbor filling the dumpster in the ally with leaves and chickens number 3 & 4 taking turns literally "diving" headfirst into the dumpster.
2. Indecent Exposure- an activity that involves a nameless chicken peeing on our neighbors front yard. When chastised about this activity the chicken in question simply said "I was behind a tree."
3. Reckless Endangerment- an activity that involves 3 special little chickens taking turns shooting their arrows at our neighbors house. When chastised about this activity their defense was simply "We were taking turns like Papa said." Thanks Dad.

Sayings To a certain chicken...
I have a VERY busy Chicken in my house. If any of you have had the chance to meet number five you know he keeps me on my toes. The following are a few of the things I find myself saying to my two year old...
"Please dont drive your car on the baby."
"Lets NOT climb on the table."
"No, the baby does not need a sip of your juice, thank you for sharing with him."
"Please do not share your animal crackers with Cole."
"Lets NOT throw our cars down the stairs."
"Lets NOT ride our bikes down the stairs."
"Lets NOT put a pillow on the Baby."
"How about we try eating our food instead of wearing it?"
"No, Im pretty sure the baby does not need 5 tissues."
"Kayle, the reason Cole is on the table is so he is safe from YOU!"
"Please put the paint brush down."
"Thank you for throwing all the folded laundry on the floor."
"how about leaving the knife on the counter, thank you."
"Lets go take a nap."

A New Chicken AKA CN6
Well, its been a LONG time since I have been on this blog or even thought about this blog, not that there has been a decrease in blogworthy stories coming from the Bennett house.
We have a new chicken! CN6. And in our grand tradition of "doing things outside of the norm" he arrived 12 weeks early weighing 2 pounds 7 ounces, a very tiny chicken indeed. He is home now after a very LONG summer and he is doing great despite the cray house he now resides in. He has been sat on, hit, pulled on, almost dropped, and tripped over. He has had binkies stolen, bottles confiscated, ears pulled, and toes squeezed. He has yet to experience a moment of silence and I believe is dreaming of the solitude of his incubator in the NICU.
All that to say he has been loved on more than any chicken has ever been loved on in his few short weeks home. All his chicken-siblings have doted on him and overwhelmed him with love.
We have some BIG changes coming our way and I am going to attempt to keep this blog going. I know my adoring fans have missed it. I owe it to them to terry on, and so I shall try, for the fans...
